Thank you so much for sharing your work, these images are beautiful. I’ve been reminded to embrace the shadows this week, and reading your newsletter has been a welcome confirmation that I need pay attention to what is around me more often. Photography is a wonderful tool to help us do that, isn’t it?
Cool exploration of light here. Boy, I’m thinking you’d hate it in Norway in the fall through early spring (minus some clear nights in winter) as we can often go weeks and weeks without seeing the sun or sky due to ever-present cloud cover. I like interesting clouds. But these clouds are often just a grey, static bleh. Then we appreciate when the light returns…
I know what you mean. Forget Norway even London got to me. I found the weather there very dull and dreary. Light is magical :) thanks for your comment.
😁 I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona back in the day so, for me, a bit of cloud is exotic but weeks upon weeks of it is pretty depressing, especially once we lose the fall colors and it’s just dreary. (But I will say cloud over can be great for making the light soft and gentle for photography.) So I totally get that we all have our own needs as far as the light is concerned (it’s always way too dark for me by the winter equinox 😱 even though I’ve been in Norway now for 20 years…)
I love how you put this out there, I have felt similarly and taken many photos of light and shadow cast in my home, your reflections ring so true to me.
I enjoyed this a lot. Actual notice patterns in the quality of life in the various spaces I am in to sound dangerous, but are used to live with a 30 minute drive through tall redwood and for forest, and in the evening the fog and roll in, and it would put a dusting of light . reflections in the boughs of the trees. I would occasionally look up and follow this magic as I drove home on my curvy roads that I knew so well. It was pretty special the other thing I’ve done along the same lines is sort of like a video version where I see my view in these tall trees as they dance around me because of my motion through them. I think this is what airplane pilots see what is the clouds when they’re flying. It gives the trees in this case or the clouds in their case a certain level of animation.
I really like that you Rumi in your posts and that it inspires you to do what you do.
Yes you got the animation part right Greg! And the clouds and the pilots as well. Did not think of that one so thank you bringing that up here. Must be also a lovely sight. Thanks much for stopping by

Oh, yeah, I guess London is just as bad (worse?) than it can be in Oslo. Good point.
And this is my personal opinion or experience. I know a lot of people who love the London weather.
No I am saying that even though it’s not as bad as Oslo I still couldn’t adjust with even that much.

Love the curiosity!
Thanks much Joe I am glad it came through.
Lovely words and images Shital, I really enjoyed reading this.
Thanks so much Gill. This means a lot to me.
Light is the enabler but it's the shadows that create patterns :))
:)
Beautiful quote and photographs! Light is so essential to many parts of our lives and yet we take it for granted!
Thank you so much Susanne.
Your first image reminds me of a painting, with the sun having a smudged quality in the centre. And what a beautiful quote from Rumi!
Wonderful pictures, Shital!
Thanks so much Sarah. I love your feedback on the first image!
Love the shadows, Shital. Mysterious!
Alex thanks so much.
Seeing beauty in the ordinary is a powerful practice, and you’ve captured that power in these images, Shital. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you like them Victoria. Thanks a ton!
So much light and so many wonderful patterns! I love these Shital!

Lovely!
Thank you!
I pay closer attention to my surroundings...
Something that is lost on many people in this day and age of internet, the hustle and bustle of life, the rush of the almighty dash for cash.
I agree life has become fast paced and like some race sometimes. I am glad photography is there to fall back on. Thank you for your comment.
